Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy:

Vestibular Rehab is a patient specific program designed to reduce symptoms that include:

  1. Vertigo- Spinning, rolling, turning
  2. Lightheadedness- woozy, visual sensitivity
  3. Disequilibrium- wobbly on the feet
  4. Behavior dizziness- anxious, fear of falling, apprehensive
  5. Motion sickness-nausea, vomiting.

What is Vestibular Therapy?

  • The vestibular system includes the part of the inner ear and brain that process information and balance.
  • Your Physical therapist will run through a series of tests to evaluate individuals symptoms and designs a treatment program specifically to the patients needs

Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) may include

  • Canalith repositioning
  • Strengthening 
  • Exercises of trunk and legs
  • Standing balance and coordination exercises
  • Habituation exercises to reduce the sensitivity of movement
  • Gaze stabilization exercises
  • Patient and caregiver education
  • Home modification to reduce falls.
